General Responsibilities:
Responsible for demonstrating good customer relations and providing excellent customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction. Demonstrate knowledge of the rules and standards about collections and bad debt recovery. Knowledge of daily billing, processing of charge-offs and collection procedures. Identify errors related to charge-offs and make necessary corrections as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Process adjustments on misread meters, leaking meters, etc
- Responsible for making daily outbound collection calls on delinquent accounts
- Assist in processing charge-offs and work closely with collection agencies
- Assist in compiling the monthly charge-offs report
- Field and return customer calls addressing their service concerns/problems; route appropriate calls to immediate supervisor
- Resolve disputed accounts emphasizing making the customer's experience positive
- Answer and route telephone calls to the supervisor or appropriate personnel
- Compile account information from Visions software and respond to subpoenas as needed
- Perform routine record keeping such as filing, distributing reports, mailing collection letters, etc
- Perform all work safely in accordance with established safety policies and procedures Comply with all safety and health standards and guidelines issued by management

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications
Experience:
Six (6) months of customer service or collections-related experience is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel and Outlook). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with the public tactfully and courteously and work effectively with other employees. Ability to make arithmetic computations with reasonable speed and accuracy and must possess skills in coding information into proper form for entry into the computer system.
