General Responsibilities:
Assist, observe and perform duties as directed by the filter plant Senior/Chief Operator, designated operator or Maintenance Supervisor. Learn how to perform laboratory control tests, collect distribution system data, and observe preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment. Prepare for the Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Certification through self-study and attendance in any assigned courses.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist, observe and perform duties as directed by Senior/Chief Operator, designated operator or Maintenance Supervisor
- Observe and perform sampling methods
- Observe and perform laboratory tests using bench top and inline monitoring equipment
- Observe and perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on monitoring equipment
- Attend all required instructor lead classes
- Complete all online training courses
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform all work safely in accordance with established safety policies and procedures Comply with all safety and health standards and guidelines issued by management
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certifications
Experience:
Six (6) months of maintenance, water systems, or related experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s license required
- Fit Test for Respirator purposes required
- Passing grade on BWW Entrance Exam for Water Treatment Plants required
- Backflow Certification required (must obtain within 6 months of the position start date)

Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods
- Reaching by excreting hand(s) or arms(s) in any direction
- Finger dexterity is required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
- Communication skills using the spoken word
- Ability to see within normal parameters
- Ability to hear within normal parameters
- Ability to move about
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to scale a ladder
Working Environment:
- Work is performed at a 24/7 treatment facility
- Loud noise
- Indoors and outdoors, exposed to extreme hot/cold weather conditions and handle hazardous chemicals with personal protective equipment
- Subject to working in emergency overtime situations.
- Subject to work in different departments and fill in for out-of-class shift work
