General Responsibilities:
Under general supervision locate the installation and maintenance of water main, valves, services, meter boxes, vaults, loops, fire hydrants, etc. in the Distribution System with maximum efficiency and safety for the general public. Serve in a lead role in reference to the Utility Worker I regarding the efficient location and maintenance in the Distribution System.
Essential Job Functions:
- within Distribution System Responsible for promoting customer relationsRestore paving and concreteInstall bracing, blocking and strap fittings, pipes, valves, cut and ccp mains Operate heavy equipment such as pumps and pipe cutting hand tools, and air compressorsOperate Backhoes and TrackhoesFlush mains and service lines after water mains have been installed
- Operate all BWWB vehicles and heavy equipment as requiredCalculate the requirements and requisition concrete, road gravel, fill sand and asphaltResponsible for landscapingAbility to read valve map detail map and shut off water as neededMaintain and replace fire hydrants, and also meet with Fire Department officials when neededServe on the On-Call rotation list for maintenance of the Distribution System
- May be required to work an on-call schedule outside of normal schedule on a rotating basis as directedAbility to use the jackhammer dailyPerform other duties as directed..

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Certifications
Experience:
Four years construction experience required; previous experience in leak repairs required. Basic Computer skills preferred; excellent customer relation skills and communication skills are a plus

- Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
- Finger dexterity required to manipulated objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard

- Indoors and outdoors; Loud Noise
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
