Grade: 16

Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 am until 3:30 pm

Salary: $24.78($51,537.41 - $73,401.77) - $35.29

General Responsibilities

Train under the SCADA Analysts to install and maintain the hardware and software that allows the SCADA monitoring, control, and reporting of the raw and finished systems of the BWWB.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Train in the design, installation, and programming of new instrumentation, telemetry, and controls.
  2. Learn how to create programs and graphical interfaces for the user control and data output from the SCADA control system.
  3. Learn methods of troubleshooting problems in the SCADA system; may be asked to support such investigations on a 7-day/24-hour on-call basis.
  4. Train in the reporting of SCADA information, with emphasis on the creation and manipulation of spreadsheets, databases, and web pages.
  5. Monitor SCADA operations of the raw and finished water systems.
  6. Perform other duties as directed.

Essential Job Functions Con't


Associate’s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering or related field preferred. 


Four years required experience with computer applications including Microsoft Excel and Word; abilities in computer programming preferred. Experience with the use of control systems required. Knowledge of water distribution systems including hydraulics and pump operation; additional knowledge of water treatment and filtration preferred. Experience with web-based coding languages such as HTML, CSS, PHP and ColdFusion. Experience with PLC based programming and Ladder Logic. Experience with network communication. Familiarity with databases such as MySQL and SQL. Knowledge of water distribution systems including hydraulics and pump operation; additional knowledge of water treatment and filtration.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Training in Foxboro I/A System preferred.

Grade I or Grade IV ADEM Certification preferred.

Register with the Alabama Board for Engineers & Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern preferred.
