General Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Security Manager to develop and implement a World-Class Security Department by developing security policy, standards, guidelines, and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security. Physical protection responsibilities will include asset protection, access control systems, video surveillance, Guard Oversight, off-duty police officers, and investigations. The Security Superintendent will also act as a resource to a wide variety of internal disciplines within BWWB including Legal, Information Technology, Human Resources, Operations, Payment Center, Environmental Health and Safety, and Accounting. Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and be comfortable reporting findings and recommendations to a diverse audience of employees and senior management.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Works directly with HR and Legal to lead or advise on investigations.
  2. Maintains extensive knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues, and security technology.
  3. Establish and maintain executive level engagement with officials at the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), local law enforcement, State law enforcement, and other law enforcement agencies.
  4. Collaborates with the Manager to develop, implement and maintain the company’s policies, standards, guidelines, processes, procedures and plans that will serve to govern and manage physical security for BWWB. These may include Security Risk/Vulnerability Assessments, Perimeter Security, Lighting and Security Signage, CCTV and Video Management System/Analytics, Access Control Systems, Visitor Management Systems, Intrusion Detection Alarms and Guard Force Operations.
  5. Oversees and assures that physical security measures are in place and operational.
  6. Must have strong working knowledge of pertinent law and the law enforcement community.
  7. Must have a solid understanding of information technology and information security.
  8. Oversee incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary

  1. Understanding of physical security issues, proper investigative methodologies, and management of investigative services.
  2. Strong understanding of security equipment and software as it relates to security access, cameras, and alarm systems.
  3. Purchases necessary security equipment and services to maintain the security operations in good working condition.
  4. Meet with key BWWB staff and coordinate security management plans, coordinate on-site security, and provide critical intelligence response to incidents, and assist incident management.
  5. Attends security conferences and related meetings to stay abreast of the latest trends in security.
  6. Works with the Security Manager to identify protection goals, objectives, and metrics consistent with corporate strategic plan.
  7. Establishes security policy to remain complaint with the Critical Infrastructure Industrial Standards.
  8. Works with Security Manager to maintain responsibility for garnering executive support and budget for security initiatives, building consensus with functional leaders by demonstrating value and measurable results and creating a culture of security awareness among the company’s employees, partners, and vendors – while maintaining efficiency.

  1. Oversees management of the system-wide card access system.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, including executive management, other corporate groups and teams, business lines and regions. Internal stakeholders include, but are not limited to, HR, Legal, and Compliance functions.
  3. To strengthen security initiatives, the Security Superintendent creates and maintains good channels of communication and support across various departments. This person may also create digital security management programs and prioritize security initiatives and issues.
  4. Provides for the physical set-up and support to the Emergency Response Task Force during periods of crisis.
  5. Collaborates with the Security Manager to prepare annual security department budget.
  6. Employee will be on call 24/7.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

Eight (8) years of physical security experience, with knowledge of security regulations and laws. Five years of security supervisory experience required. Must have strong interpersonal skills, must have strong oral and written communication skills. Extensive knowledge of physical security design and system integration. Knowledge of CPTED and other best practices as it relates to the field of physical security. Must be a strong Leader.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver’s License

Armed Security Officer License required

Certification in Homeland Security, Level III (CHS-III) within 6 months of hire date.

American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) International Certification (APP, PSP, PCI, CPP) preferred
